I often get inquiries about my sound system. There is a noticeable difference between karaoke run on professional systems by people with an understanding of sound engineering and karaoke run on cheap systems by non-musicians. It all comes down to the old adage, "you get what you pay for."
POETS Karaoke Sound:
- JBL MusicMix 16 channel mixer designed and produced for JBL by SoundCraft
- JBL Eon 15P-1 bi-amplified powered speakers with 130W woofer, 50W tweeter
- Lexicon MX200 effects processor
- Electro-voice ZX1-90 200W passive speaker (used for performer audio monitor)
- Soundtech PS802 stereo power amplifier
- Electro-voice Endyne 767a microphone, tailored for bass response
- Electro-voice Endyne 367s microphone, favoring female vocal frequencies
- Shure PGX24/SM58 wireless microphone and receiver
- HP Pavillion dv8t quad core notebook PC designed specifically for multimedia applications
Of course, there are also the two video monitors (one for the performer, one for the audience), multiple stands, cords, sound rack, video distribution box, wireless headset, presentation software, etc. that have merely peripheral or no impact on the actual audio quality (other than proper physical placement of the speakers for optimal frequency spread), but are all part of the system that creates the superior atmosphere you'll find at a POETS show.
